Gucci Flora Perfume

The Gucci Flora perfume is nothing as floral at all. In a sense that there is nothing strong or sharp about its scent. It is actually light and evokes the younger consumer of Gucci as what Gucci’s creative director, Frida Giannini describes it. The notes for Flora are listed as citrus, peony, rose, osmanthus, pink pepper, sandalwood and patchouli, but in conclusion, Flora is a sheer, almost-sparkling floral, very pale and clean. Available at macys for $90.

Fashioning a fundraiser

Models line up backstage before the start of the Sisters on the Runway 2008 fashion show at the Montclair Art Museum.
Who: Gabriela Graham, Juliana Colangelo and Elizabeth Eddy, students at Montclair High School.
What: Founders of Sisters on the Runway club at the high school.
Mission: To raise funds for Shelter Our Sisters, a Bergen County nonprofit organization that helps victims of domestic violence.
Background: More than 300 people attended the third annual fashion show fund-raiser on April 4 at the Montclair Art Museum to raise funds for Shelter Our Sisters.
The event is the brainchild of Juliana Colangelo, Gabriela Graham and Elizabeth Eddy, Montclair High School seniors.
"We came up with the idea for the fashion show as a way to appeal to all age groups and get the community involved. Montclair is filled with beautiful boutiques and very talented hairstylists and makeup artists. By having this fashion show and silent auction we can include the entire communities plethora of shops and restaurants as well as raise money for a good cause,'' said Eddy, 17.
Liz Eddy, right, Gaby Graham, center, and Juliana Colangelo, left, (back to camera) get ready for the Sisters on the Runway 2008 fashion show.
"Boutiques in Montclair such as Kawayan, Coco, an Experience, Inc., Barbara Eclectic, Cisco Station, Ruby, Hip Chic, and Culture Couture loan us dozens of fashions for the models to wear. We also showcase fashions designed and made by Montclair High School students,'' said Colangelo, 18.
Money was raised through ticket sales, a silent auction and raffle items donated by Montclair businesses.
Tickets were $10 for students; $15 for adults. Approximately $10,000 was raised at this year's event, and about $14,000 at previous fashion shows. The entire proceeds benefit Shelter Our Sisters.
The teenagers learned about the nonprofit while enrolled in the Civics and Government Institutes community service program at the high school.
"We wanted to do something that would increase awareness of domestic violence in our community, since it is so infrequently spoken about,'' Eddy said.
"We began to search for shelters and came across Shelter Our Sisters. They immediately responded to us and brought us into their family. We have since visited monthly, spending time with the children and helping organize their home,'' 18-year-old Graham added.
Shelter staff members Suzanne Dandie, left, Amanda Bachther and Jacquie Kohlberger debate if some clothing would be the right size for a gift for a child.
After coordinating the fashion show themselves the first time around, the teenagers enlisted help. In October 2007, they created the Sisters on the Runway club. They now have more than 80 members who help run the school-wide modeling audition, plan the event, gather sponsorships, visit the shelter, sell T-shirts and more.
"From this experience we have created a close bond with the shelter that we hope to maintain for the rest of our lives,'' Colangelo said.

Back To School Fashion

So I've been getting quite a lot of comments on my latest videos from worried viewers who fear I've neglected my fashion tutorials...don't fret, little ones!!  I haven't forgotten about the fashion side of my channel, I'm just branching out with the make-up ones.  And what's wrong with a bit of variety to spice things up?!  Honestly though, I don't think a lot of people who watch my YT vids even know I have this blog, where I regularly post my Outfits of the Day and such.  I think I had mentioned in my Back to School Make-Up post that there would be a follow-up post on fashion.  So If you're reading this blog and you know about it, you're one of the clever ones who gets all the inside scoop!

I put together three looks that I personally feel are perfect for back to school/college.  These will all be in today's video but you special blog followers/readers get to see them here first!  These three looks reflect my own style, so do keep that in mind.  It's quite difficult to try and cater to everybody's style especially when you're young and in school, so my main priority was to keep the looks comfortable, relaxed and simple so you can build upon them with accessories.  When you're dressing for a school environment you don't want to feel uncomfortable or over-dressed but a lot of people get bored of the same old "jeans and t-shirt" look so I tried to make these a little bit varied and different than that!

What I'm Wearing:

Look #1
Khaki green combat-style pants - Primark (very similar style/price by ASOS here)
Grey ribbed long-sleeve t-shirt - Primark (similar style by John Lewis here)
Leopard print flats - Faith (similar style by Dorothy Perkins here)
Silver studs - Accessorize
Grey fringed jersey loop scarf - Accessorize (similar style in red by Bleu Dame here)
Metallic bangle - A local boutique (similar style by Oliver Bonas here)
Leather satchel - Joop! (similar style by Topshop here)

Look #2
Khaki green jacket - Bershka (similar style by ASOS here)
Black t-shirt - Mexx
Black pointy-toe flats - ASOS
Black/brown skinny jeans - Cheap Monday
Green disc earrings - Diamonds & Pearls/Bijou Brigitte (similar style here)
Vintage cuff - Stolen from my mom! (similar-ish and very fun Coca Cola style here!)
Leather satchel - Joop! (similar style by Topshop here)

Look #3
Black/brown skinny jeans - Cheap Monday
Dusky pink sweater - Sisley (get it in hot pink here)
Ballerina flats - Dunnes Stores (similar-ish style in grey by La Redoute here)
Dusky pink pashmina - Local market (similar style by M&S here)
Pink and gold feather earrings - Forever21 (get them in peachy pink here)
Leather satchel - Joop! (similar style by Topshop here)

I really hope you guys like the looks.  Please remember that everyone's style is different, so this is by no means the only "right way" to dress for school, it's just my input.

Back To School Fashion

If you don’t want the campus fashion police to come after you, try to follow this back-to-school fashion advice.
DO…
DO wear something new. There’s something very satisfying about ripping the price tag off a new item you have been saving for a special day.
DO keep your look youthful. Don’t be in a rush to look older. Freshmen especially will ditch their high school look completely, but wearing a pencil skirt and heels will only make getting to classes on time harder.

DO try a new ‘do. Before going back to class, mix in a few lowlights, try a new length or go for bangs.
DO give into the trends of the season. Try out one (or a few) new trends for Fall. But, be picky and pick what works for you and your body type.
DO wear layers. Canadians know how to do this best. They are also the easiest look for transitioning between early mornings, potentially hot afternoons and evening plans without having to run home for anything.
DO pack properly. Find a well-made bag big enough to fit your books.  I’m not a mom, but I can tell you right now you will hate yourself come November if you buy some flimsy canvas thing with a strap that digs into your shoulder.

DO recycle, reuse, reinvent. Incorporate your summer wardrobe into fall.  Tanks are great for layering and shorts and skirts can be worn with long sleeves and fall boots.
DO plan ahead. Getting back into a schedule is hard enough as it is, so put together a few options for the first week and reduce the stress of earlier mornings and new bus routes.

DO find yourself and be yourself. Effortless style is where it’s at.  Use the start of a new school year to take a few risks and find your personal style. Try a vintage store for unique pieces or dig out an old favourite and make it new again.
DON’T…
DON’T be a copycat. Make sure not to wear the entire outfit you bought off the mannequin at Zara.  People will notice — and not in a good way. Mix and match, it’s wonderful.
DON’T wear a costume. Dressing up for school is not a game of dress-up. Avoid going all Britney Spears circa “Hit Me Baby (One More Time).” The school girl thing won’t make you any friends. Stay classy, throw on some skinny jeans and a boyfriend blazer.

do as the Romans

When in Rome, do as the Romans!

When visiting a new city, the best way to dress appropriately is by taking a look at what the locals are wearing. For those wondering what to pack for Italy, Rome native Lucia offers Travel Fashion Girls advice on what to wear in Rome when you visit her beautiful city during the summer. Enjoy Travel Fashion Girl’s latest feature: City Style Guides.

Visiting Rome is an experience you won’t forget!

To enjoy your stay in the Eternal City you need to carry the right clothes so you can comfortably take in all of our beautiful Italian sights. Here is my Italy packing list helping you decide what to wear in Rome and other tips for travelers visiting my city during the summer:
What to Pack for Rome, Italy:
What to Wear in Rome: Italy Packing ListOne t-shirt: it is necessary if you plan to visit San Peter’s Basilica or any other church, since visitors are not allowed to enter with bare shoulders or legs. Choose a white t-shirt so you don’t suffer too much if the weather is hot.
Three cotton tank tops: they’ll be your allies during the days spent walking through the city to visit monuments. If you don’t want to carry too many colors with you then go for black: Italians consider this color pretty elegant and wearing in black you will be always fine.
One long sleeve shirt: in case the temperature is a little colder than expected. White or black, it will perfectly fit with a pair of jeans.
One long dress: for a special occasion: you could end up eating in a charming hotel or being invited to a party… be sure to have something elegant with you! (sounds like a little black travel dress is in order?)
One pair of jeans: Dark blue. Italians wear jeans a lot, different colors and match them with almost everything. (should you really pack jeans?)
One pair of leggings: They go with everything and are good for layering. (see how to mix and match travel outfits with leggings)
Two pair of shorts: denim or solid dark colors.
One tunic: Solid color, to be worn with leggings or if you go to the beach.
One swimsuit: not so far from Rome, Ostia is a perfect place for a one day trip to the seaside. Don’t forget your swimsuit!
Shoes: One pair of Brazilian sandals to go to the beach. One pair of tennis shoes to go walking in the city (there’s a lot to see in Rome, so there’s a lot to walk too: choose something comfortable!) One pair of black sandals for the evening.
Makeup and accessories (don’t bring any hat with you: you’ll probably buy one in Rome, white with a black belt!)

Fashion Guide

What to Pack for Seattle: A Local’s Approved Packing Guide

For this edition of Locals Approved Packing Lists, the team over at Get Your Travel On have helped put together this packing guide to help you decide what to pack for Seattle.
The ladies from Get Your Travel On
Jen, Tracy, Krista, Abby & Kendra are a group of friends who have made a habit out of escaping to their favorite cities together whenever they can. They’re on a mission to inspire other BFF’s to make memories by traveling, and they give readers the resources they need to plan memorable -and awesome- adventures.  Between them they’ve lived over 8 years in Seattle so they’ve got some great advice for you because the best travel tips are from locals! Use their  clothing tips along with TFG’s Universal Packing Lists to create your own custom Seattle Packing List.

What to Wear in Seattle

Seattle Clothing Style
When you’re planning what to wear in Seattle, keep in mind that this is a casual city.  Looking around, you’ll notice that outdoor brands like The North Face are popular with practical and nature-lovin’ Seattle folk.  However, the Pacific Northwest is home to a ton of creative people who enjoy putting their own spin on the term “dressy.”  With a ton of independent boutiques, there is special mix of texture, grit and vintage class.
The weather also contributes to defining Seattle style. We love to layer, which gives us ample opportunity to play with patterns and colors. Many Seattleites intentionally incorporate bright colors into their ensembles to contrast the gray skies.
Don’t be that person who puts on shorts at the first sign of sun in March. It’s a trap; summer won’t be here for several months…
Seattle Travel Essentials
What to Wear in Seattle: SpringDefinitely pack your umbrella; it really does rain a lot here.  However, you can take that a step further and replace your umbrella with a good jacket with a hood for those rainy days. Most locals go this route anyways, as the rain often comes with the wind, which can destroy even the best umbrella in seconds. This is especially true if you plan to spend a lot of time downtown, where tall buildings can create wind tunnels.
Seattle Shopping
If the clothing you chose when you planned what to pack for Seattle doesn’t quite work out, you can easily update your wardrobe in these stores:
You really can’t go wrong with H&M and Forever 21, both located downtown.  Also go check out the Nordstrom Rack on Fifth and Pine, and it won’t hurt to hit up the flagship Nordstrom across the street.  It’s a Seattle institution!
If you find yourself in Belltown, perhaps while walking to the Space Needle, the Endless Knot on First and Bell is not too expensive and is worth checking out.  Other noteworthy stores include Show Pony in the Fremont Neighborhood, as well as Horseshoe and Velouria in Ballard, even if it means renting a car to get there.

All the items featured in this set can be found on Modcloth.com

On Fashion

On Fashion: How to Avoid Apparel Mishaps

Finding the right apparel that fits you perfectly is no easy task nevertheless it is important not to lose hope because you can train your eye to pick out the imperfections to be avoid.
cp shades clothingIf your dream is apparel that fits you perfectly, then welcome to the thousands-of-women-sharing the-same-age-old-dream club. Celebrities that you see on TV may seem to have perfected this leaving you thinking they can do this only because they have the perfect body. However, according to the celebrity stylist June Ambrose, they are not so special after all (and this coming from someone who has worked with the celebrities). Most celebrities in fact have those same imperfections that trouble most women. The thing is though is that they are pretty good at hiding these flaws, and this is the key to a fashionable and well dressed look. Find out how you can achieve the perfect fit with these helpful tips:
• Know, Accept, and Love Your Body
Not knowing your body type and the strengths and weaknesses that come with it is probably the worst torture anyone can put themselves through. When a person is not fully aware of their body type (or simply chooses to avoid this awareness), the risk of wearing inappropriate garments is high. This is why we see rolls of fat that should not be there, the uni-breast, the back fat, and those visible stress marks on clothes. The first thing to obtain a good fit then is to know your body well, your body shape and size, and the fluctuations that you have, along with your strengths and even your flaws. Learn to love your body by learning how to dress in harmony with your body shape.
• Understand the Flaws
Our body is not perfectly symmetrical, one shoulder can be higher, one leg may be longer than the other, and one breast may also be larger than the other. These are natural asymmetries and when you choose clothes that are ill-fitting, people may see these natural asymmetries as unnatural and might even recognise them more when ill-fitting clothes make them seem obvious. This is why it is so important to know your own body.
• Don’t Focus on Diet too Much
People who experience weight fluctuations often buy clothes that they think will motivate them to diet, but although this might help you should be looking for apparel that allows you to move freely with your natural body shape. Avoid the scenario where you need to adjust your clothing week in week out every time your weight fluctuates.
• Know the Difference Between a Good fit and a Bad Fit
cp shades clothing ukTraining your eyes to look for imperfections is always an effective tool. When shopping and trying on clothes, you might well want to look for signs that indicate that the clothes could end up being a disaster. Here are some to bear in mind:
• Side Spills
Clothes that cut your circulation, and cause extra ripples or those pieces of clothing that simply pinch you in the middle.
• The Over tight or Saggy Crotch
The sight of extra material hanging around the crotch is not a feminine sight, on the other hand clothes that appear hug your crotch are far too revealing.
• Clothes that Grip the Armpit
Clothes that are tight around the armpit are an poor fit which means that your shoulders are too broad for the clothing.
• Looking Top-Heavy
A short-waist or boxy jacket that creates the illusion that your shoulders are twice as wide is also a poor fit.
• Bra Spillage
If the back of your cleavage is bursting out with the breasts apparently pouring over the sides, look for a good lingerie shop and ask a saleswoman to help you find the correct size.

Modest Clothing

How to Shop for Modest Clothing for Women

Women across all cultures are, more than ever before, turning their backs on modern fashion trends and embracing a more modest style of dress. In fact, the tide has turned so much that modest fashion is on the verge of becoming a popular trend on its own.

What is Modest Clothing?

modest clothing for women‘Dressing modestly’ is admittedly open to interpretation around the world. These differences are perhaps best viewed across different societies and religious boundaries, where certain aspects of dress and customs are more acceptable in some cultures than others are.
In general, however, the concept of dressing modestly is a simple one, requiring women to ‘cover up’ and not dress themselves up as sexual objects, for example.
Although certain religions require followers to dress in a modest manner, it is a style that is becoming popular throughout the world. This owes much to how stylish and functional modest clothing can be.
How should women across the planet shop for modest clothing?

Know Where To Look

If your mission is to buy a specific type of fashion, then immediately one can fall into a mindset of wanting to avoid certain stores. Even those retailers that stock the most immodest clothes probably have alternatives that are more so, so you shouldn’t rule them out straight away.
If you are stuck for ideas then the trusty internet is always a great place to begin. A quick search of Google for ‘modest clothing’ will present browsers with a range of e-commerce and information sites that filled with stylish garments and advice around achieving a modest style of dress.

What Do You Want?

To say “I want to dress modestly” is one thing, however you need to really drill down into the reasons for doing so, as this will help you to pick out the best and most specific garments for your purpose.
So, if you are looking for a modest style so that you look more professional at work, target dresses and other work wear that are going to help you to achieve this. At the same time, if you would like to be more modest with your casual style choice, pick out t-shirts, dresses, and denims that are going to fit in with your new look.

Modest Style Rules

Obviously, the modest part will take care of itself, so the rules when it comes to style are all personal ones, and thankfully, they are simple, too.
All you need to do to make your modest style work is ensure that everything is well-fitted, comfortable, and functional. This will send your confidence soaring and ensure that you dazzle in your new style sense.
Aab Collection is an e-commerce retailer of modest, Islamic clothing predominantly for the Muslim woman with multiple roles to play in modern society.
